Standing on top of parking Structure overlooking the Chicago River!

Chicago is such a great city; next to my hometown Milwaukee, of course. There is so much to see and do when I am not working, so I want to give some some cool information you may find useful when you give the Windy City a visit!

Early Chicago

Chicago is a Native American state. It is home to five tribes Hoocąk (Winnebago/Ho'Chunk), Jiwere (Otoe), Nutachi (Missouria), and Baxoje (Iowas); Kiash Matchitiwuk (Menominee); Meshkwahkîha (Meskwaki); Asâkîwaki (Sauk); Myaamiaki (Miami), Waayaahtanwaki (Wea), and Peeyankihšiaki (Piankashaw); Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo); Inoka (Illini Confederacy); Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe), Odawak (Odawa), and Bodéwadmik (Potawatomi).

Jean Baptiste Point du Sable, was Chicago's first non-indigenous permanent resident, who was a free Black man from Haiti whose mother was a African slave and whose father was a French soldier.
